NSW: No advice that Easter Show is a terrorist target - Carr

SYDNEY, April 2 AAP - NSW Premier Bob Carr warned today that "soft" targets were being
deliberately selected by terrorists but dismissed suggestions one would be the Sydney
Royal Easter Show.

No extra security arrangements had been put in place for the annual exhibition, he said.

While speaking to reporters on another subject Mr Carr was asked about the possibility
of a terrorist attack on the Easter Show to which he answered that everything was a possible
terrorist target.

"We've got no advice that would enable me to say that (the Easter Show is a target),"

Mr Carr said.

"(But) everything is a possible target after Bali, after the Twin Towers, after Madrid,
everything is a possible target."

The premier said he was not aware of any additional security arrangements in place
at this year's Easter Show which opened today.

"I haven't been given any material that would indicate a particular cause for alarm," he said.

"It's just got to be said again. The terrorists are picking trains, office towers,
nightclubs, hotels.

"We're in a period where soft targets are being deliberately selected by terrorists."
