Yahoo! Inc attracted the biggest global audience in July, according to a report by the research firm Nielsen/Net Ratings.
The research found that Yahoo! attracted a global audience of 66m people, followed by America Online (AOL) with 62m and Microsoft's MSN with 50m visitors on an at-home basis only, said Nielsen/Net Ratings.
The company measured usage in the US, the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Japan in July. MSN was ranked first in terms of unique audience in the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand and Yahoo! was first in Japan, Singapore and Ireland. AOL was ranked first in the US.
MSN logged the most minutes online per user in Australia, Ireland, Canada and Singapore, while Yahoo! logged the most time in New Zealand, the UK, Canada and the US in July.
The report also found that about 42% of home Internet users (around 52m people) visited shopping sites in July.
